The Other Blog
I've been getting content up on my new blog - All the Sanity in Me - and trying to market it a little bit. I've gotten some friends to include their cute stuff in my Friday Farmer's Market segment as well. Will you help me and post a link to it on your blogs? :) I have some plans for this blog and need your help to make them come to pass so I would appreciate it if you would. :) Thanks!

Josh's 6th Birthday
I'm finally getting around to blogging about Josh's birthday - 10 days later. It's been a crazy couple of weeks.
We had a huge day planned after the 10K. First, we had to shower. So we went back to my aunt and uncle's house and got ready for the day. At noon we met Lou and the kids at Brick Oven Pizza in Provo for some yummy stuff. Let's face it - it's the closest I will ever deliberately come to Chuck E. Cheese. No offense to anyone who has the nerve to take their kids there!
After Brick Oven we headed to Thanksgiving Point. I gave Josh the choice of a birthday party, or a day out with two of his friends. His besties (that is for you, Loree) are Kate and Gabi so he didn't hesitate at all to name them. He decided that he wanted to do the day out with friends. I was secretly very happy with that decision, of course, although it took just as much effort and I was ex-haus-ted from the 10K that morning so by the end of the day I was ready to drop. At Thanksgiving Point we went to Farm Country and then to the Dinosaur Museum. Then we headed home to pick up the cake for cake and ice cream in the driveway for friends in the neighborhood. This is where I really dropped the ball. I sent out an email to my neighbors, but no one really got back to me. I didn't think about the fact that since it was Labor Day weekend everyone was going to be out of town. My poor baby ran all over the neighborhood knocking on doors to see if his friends were home and none of them were except for Gabi and Kate, of course. Fortunately my cute friend, Paige, brought over her daughter and we already had some family so it wasn't a total disaster. Lesson learned - never ever plan a birthday shindig on a holiday weekend. Josh still said it was his favorite birthday ever so it was good that we DID plan a day of fun!

Swiss Days 10K
On Saturday, September 6th at about 6:00am (how's that for alliteration?) my mom and I got in the car and headed to Midway for the Swiss Days 10K. The plan - to walk it in honor of Josh's 6th birthday. It was still a bit dark when we arrived. We got checked in and got in line for the race.
We started off walking and finished walking and it was a beautiful walk until about three miles in when it started pouring rain. That wasn't so fun. A bit cold, actually. But we kept on going and when we had .2 miles left, Josh and Clara joined us and Dave handed us the Happy Birthday, Josh! poster. We came in dead last, but we finished!
My running buddies Melissa and Laurie finished in 1 hr and 16 min. They were incredible! I was so proud of them. They have been training consistently and have really stuck to it, and they both look fabulous.

A Week of Firsts
This week has been a week of firsts for us. Well, for three of us. Dave's just been doing the same old thing. Maybe we'll come up with a first for him next week. It's been quite eventful getting used to this new schedule. While I love the fact that I will have about 9 hours weekly for myself (ha), I can't relax enough yet because mentally I feel like I am going to miss out on picking up a kid somewhere. It will get better. Soon I will be posting about eating peeled grapes and bonbons and reading summer beach novels.
First walk across the crosswalk as a Kindergartner - check out the monster backpack!
First kid to arrive in the classroom
First desk
Clara - First "ketarda" (leotard) for her first dance lesson
First Dance Moves as an official "Dancing Princesses Ballernina"
First warmup
First shopping trip where I saved 70% since starting couponing. (Yes, I realize those are a lot of taco shells, however, we eat a lot of tacos and I got them for $.50 a box)
Clara - first day of preschool
First Day of School outfit
First picture of my babies where Josh isn't choking Clara and Clara isn't yelling and both are looking at the camera.
